Alchemist’s Cabinet | Hand-Sculpted From Upcycled Paper

WooJai Lee’s artistic practice centres around material exploration, seeking to uncover hidden potential within the known and ordinary. By transforming familiar materials into unexpected furniture, interior elements and sculpture, he challenges conventional approaches to how materials are understood and used.

Tactility is central to his work, creating experiences that are both tangible and expressed through the material itself. Through close observation, WooJai draws attention to aspects of everyday life that are often overlooked or forgotten - from old newspapers and cracks in brick walls to the quiet corners of rooms, finding inspiration for new materials, forms and narratives.

His work speaks to the quiet defiance of overlooked things that reveal themselves through closer observation, and to the beauty found in labour, imperfection and the seemingly mundane.
