Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases made through The Home of Sustainable Things (HOST) website. By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms & Conditions together with our Shipping & Returns and Refund Policy.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Products
HOST develops, represents and retails furniture, lighting, homeware, design objects and other products created by HOST and independent designers, artists, makers and manufacturers.
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that product descriptions, dimensions, materials, images and other information displayed on our website are accurate.
Many of our products are handmade, produced in small batches or created from reclaimed, recycled, regenerative or naturally variable materials. Individual pieces may therefore display variations in
colour, texture, dimensions, surface, pattern and finish. These characteristics are often inherent to the material and making process and are not necessarily defects.
Colours and finishes may also appear differently depending on your screen or device.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights. Goods supplied to consumers must, among other requirements, be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
●
Prices
All prices are displayed in the currency indicated and include applicable UK VAT where required, unless otherwise stated.
Delivery charges and any other applicable costs will be shown before you complete your purchase.
We take reasonable care to ensure prices are accurate. If we discover an obvious pricing error, we will contact you before accepting or fulfilling the affected order.
Prices may change from time to time, but changes will not affect orders we have already accepted.
HOST will display mandatory charges and pricing information in accordance with applicable UK consumer law. Current rules require businesses to provide consumers with clear and accurate pricing and
prohibit hiding unavoidable charges until later in the purchasing process.
●
Orders
Products displayed on our website do not constitute a contractual offer to sell.
When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the selected goods from HOST. You will have an opportunity to review your order and correct errors before submitting it.
After placing your order, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt. This does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.
A contract between you and HOST is formed when we confirm that we have accepted your order.
We may be unable to accept an order because, for example, a product is unavailable, there is an error in its price or description, payment cannot be authorised, or we cannot deliver to the requested destination.
If payment has already been taken for an order we cannot accept, the relevant amount will be refunded.
●
Availability
Some HOST products are unique, limited-edition, handmade or produced in small quantities. Availability may therefore change.
If an item becomes unavailable after you place an order, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and offer an appropriate solution, which may include a refund, alternative product or revised lead time where agreed with you.
If you require a quantity greater than that shown as available online, please contact us. Additional pieces may sometimes be available to order.
●
Made-to-Order & Bespoke Products
Some HOST products are made only after an order is placed. Expected lead times will be stated on the product page or communicated separately.
An item being made to order does not necessarily mean it is bespoke.
Where goods are made specifically to your individual specifications or clearly personalised, the usual statutory right to cancel an online purchase may not apply. Where relevant, we will make this clear before
your order is confirmed. UK guidance distinguishes bespoke/customised products from standard products that are simply manufactured after an order is received.
Once production of a bespoke or personalised product has begun, changes may not be possible.
This does not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to conform to the contract.
●
Payment
Payment must be made using one of the payment methods available at checkout.
We reserve the right not to process an order if payment cannot be authorised or if we reasonably believe a transaction may be fraudulent or unauthorised.
●
Delivery
Goods held in stock are normally dispatched within 3 working days, unless otherwise stated.
Made-to-order products, furniture and larger objects may have longer lead times. Where applicable, an estimated lead time will be stated on the product page or communicated separately.
Delivery times are estimates unless expressly agreed otherwise.
Please see our Shipping & Returns Policy for further information about UK and international delivery, furniture and larger items.
●
Furniture & Large Items
Please check product dimensions carefully before ordering furniture or other large items.
It is the customer's responsibility to ensure there is suitable access through entrances, doorways, corridors, staircases and lifts and that the item will fit within its intended location.
If you are unsure, please contact us before ordering and we will be happy to provide the available measurements and product information.
●
International Orders
We ship internationally where possible.
Orders delivered outside the UK may be subject to local import VAT, customs duties, handling fees or other charges imposed by the destination country.
Unless expressly stated otherwise at checkout, these charges are not included in the purchase or delivery price and are the responsibility of the recipient.
Customers are responsible for checking any applicable import requirements in their destination country.
●
Cancellations, Returns & Refunds
For most products purchased online, consumers have the right to cancel their order without giving a reason within 14 days of receiving the goods. After notifying us of cancellation, goods should generally be
returned within a further 14 days. Certain exceptions apply, including genuinely bespoke and personalised goods.
Please see our Refund Policy for full information about cancellations, returns, return costs and refunds.
Please contact us before returning an item so that we can provide the appropriate return instructions and current return address.
●
Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Goods
We take great care in preparing and packaging orders. If your item arrives damaged, faulty or you receive something you did not order, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Where appropriate, please provide your order number together with photographs of the item and its packaging so that we can investigate the issue promptly.
Goods supplied to consumers must meet statutory requirements, including being of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits those rights.
●
Responsibility for Goods
Responsibility for the goods passes to you when they are delivered into your physical possession or to another person identified by you to receive them.
You will own the goods once we have received payment in full.
●
Circumstances Outside Our Control
Occasionally, circumstances outside our reasonable control may delay or prevent delivery. These may include severe weather, transport disruption, fire, flooding, industrial action, interruption
to utilities or communications, or significant disruption affecting our suppliers, designers or manufacturers.
Where this happens, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the disruption and keep you informed where appropriate.
Nothing in this section excludes any responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.
●
Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, content on the HOST website, including text, photography, graphics, branding and original HOST content, is owned by or licensed to HOST and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Copyright, design rights and other intellectual property relating to individual products may remain with their respective designers, artists, makers or other rights holders.
Website content may not be reproduced, distributed or used commercially without permission from the relevant rights holder.
●
Personal Information
We process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Information supplied when placing an order will be used as necessary to process your payment, fulfil and deliver your order, communicate with you and provide customer support.
●
Our Responsibility to You
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or liability that cannot otherwise be excluded under applicable consumer law.
HOST supplies products primarily for private and domestic use unless otherwise agreed.
Nothing in these Terms seeks to exclude or restrict your statutory consumer rights.
●
Trade, Wholesale & Business Orders
These Terms & Conditions are intended primarily for consumers purchasing products for personal use. If you are purchasing wholly or mainly for business purposes, including wholesale, resale, hospitality, commercial interiors or another professional project, please contact us. Separate trade or project terms may apply.
●
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our website, products, business or applicable law.
The Terms applicable to your purchase will normally be those in force when your order is placed.
●
Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions and contracts between HOST and consumers are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections applicable to you.
If you live elsewhere in the UK, you retain any mandatory rights available to you under the law applicable where you live.
