ACHIEVEMENTS & AWARDS
Over the years, HOST's work in circular design, material innovation and collaborative product development has received recognition from across the design and sustainability communities.
From pioneering material research to award-winning products and exhibitions, each achievement represents another step in demonstrating that working with existing resources does not require compromising on quality, function or remarkable design.
These milestones belong as much to the designers, researchers, makers and manufacturing partners we collaborate with as they do to HOST, reflecting a shared ambition to push circular design beyond experimentation and into everyday life.
Explore some of the achievements and recognition that have shaped our journey so far.

2018
Review Your Life Differently
2018 – HOST launches Review Your Life Differently, a pop-up dedicated to products made from recycled and reclaimed materials. Conceived as a glimpse into the possibilities of circular design, it brought together innovative products made from surplus resources while establishing a meeting point for designers, researchers and the public, and laying the foundations for HOST’s future direction.

2019
The Home of Sustainable Things - HOST
2019 – Building on the previous year’s pop-up, HOST opens its physical shop, dedicated exclusively to circular design. Collaborations with pioneering designers across London and Amsterdam expand the collection and establish a growing network centred on alternative approaches to materials, waste and production.

2021
Why Hemp Matters
2021 - HOST launches Why Hemp Matters, an exhibition exploring hemp as a carbon-sequestering material and presenting practical applications across design, construction and the creative industries.

2023
From overlooked resources to objects of value
2023 – HOST reaches a significant milestone in the development of its interior collection, bringing together thirty designers transforming existing resources across ten different waste streams, alongside new biomaterials. This unparalleled collection of circular design demonstrates the breadth of products and production capabilities that can emerge when the right environment exists, reinforcing HOST’s role not only as a retailer, but as an incubator for circular design and material innovation.

2024
Experimenting with material
2024 – Following an extended period of material research and experimentation, HOST, in collaboration with Rosy Napper, successfully demonstrates that fired ceramic waste can be reconstituted into a viable new ceramic material, laying the foundations for ReCinder.

2025
ReCinder
2025 – Following years of research and development, alongside the development of the necessary infrastructure and a decentralised supply chain, HOST launches ReCinder – the world’s first ceramic collection developed from reclaimed vitrified ceramic waste, transforming an overlooked waste stream into a resource for contemporary ceramic production.

2026
The Material Transformation Award
2026 - ReCinder receives the Material Transformation Award at the Surface Design Awards 2026, recognising the material innovation and its approach to bringing fired ceramic waste back into ceramic production.
