The Round Cup is a hand-thrown, beautifully tactile object, its softly rounded form emphasising the organic movement of the contrasting clays. Each piece within this limited edition is unique, with its individual marbled composition determined by the way the two clay bodies are blended by hand.

The Perfect Imbalance, Reimagined recreates Amanda Tong’s signature marble collection using ReCinder material, developed from ceramic waste.

Inspired by Yin-Yang food therapy and the idea of balancing opposing energies, the collection combines contrasting black and white clay bodies to create unique, organically marbled compositions.

Here, however, both clay bodies are developed from separate waste streams – dark and white glazed china – allowing the raw texture and character of ReCinder to come through. Each piece is complemented by our in-house-developed glaze, itself produced using local waste streams to further minimise reliance on virgin materials.

Pairing two distinct clay bodies creates contrasting shrinkage rates and physical tension during drying and firing, making each piece a delicate exercise in material balance – directly echoing the philosophy at the heart of the collection.

Through The Perfect Imbalance, Reimagined, Tong revisits ideas of balance through circular, functional art, while reflecting on our relationship with materials, raw resources and studio waste.
