Decorative yet functional, this hand-built ceramic bowl exemplifies the studio’s contemporary aesthetic and distinctive tactility. Crafted from a blend of stoneware clays for visual contrast, it features an external rubbed red iron oxide finish and a matt black glazed interior.
The natural gradation from heavy grogged black clay at the base to lighter flecked clay at the rim ensures that each piece is entirely unique. Though more time-intensive to create, the hand-building process allows the artist to explore the intrinsic qualities of clay, revealing varied textures and unexpected material expressions.
Developed exclusively for HOST using an 85% recovered clay body blend, this piece embodies both craftsmanship and circular design.
