As the name suggests, the scarves are made using a Wind Knitting Factory - a mobile, wind-powered knitting machine that can be installed almost anywhere, including on building façades. Its blades span more than one metre in diameter, and the wind they capture powers the machine, knitting a long scarf that slowly descends along as it forms.
The knitting speed depends entirely on the strength of the wind. Human involvement the final steps - cutting the knitted fabric from the machine and sewing on the labels. Every piece includes a label indicating the exact time it took to knit and the date it was produced.
