In his concept, "How Do You Like Your Eggs" Basse Stittgen explores the extraordinary materiality of an ordinary item such as waste food, to design a fully degradable tableware accessories, made of bioplastic from broken and b-stock eggs, otherwise destined to be wasted.
As much as his design focuses on the workability of the raw material, Stittgen aims to address the shift in value of the food produced and generate awareness of the scale of waste. He points at our consumption habits and the enormous, avoidable upset to nature as one third of all egg production is lost or wasted through short shelf life or transportation, amassing to the loss of over 300 million eggs per year!
