"Common Sands Candle Holder" | unique objects, using glass-waste
design by Studio Plastique / Belgium

"Common Sands" Candle Holders are simple yet unique pieces that exemplify the designers conscious thinking towards more sustainable outcome. Made during the last step of production, each candleholder is formed from approx three glass drops, approx. Ø10-15cm in size. Poured out of the glass crucible to empty the furnace and placed freely on top of one another allows the formation of unique shapes so no two candleholders are the same!

The silicates used for the candleholders have longer melting time thus reducing the bubbles compared to the vases from the Common Sands range.

Common Sands is a collection of decorative and functional homeware products made from 100% waste-glass components of discarded household appliances such as fridges, microwaves and scales and is the result of intensive collaborations with experts and craftsmen, leading to the development of new methods and ultimately new perspectives for those local resources of global heritage.

Each "Common Sands" object is laser engraved to indicate its origin, location and date of transformation to facilitate and establish an informed relationship between resource, transformation and user.
